Genie 4 Explained: What It Means for Product Videos

Genie 4 is Google DeepMind's new real-time world model, announced on 27 October 2026. It builds explorable worlds with sound, and it is not a video editor. Here is what it does, who can use it, and what it changes for product video.

Genie 4 is a world model from Google DeepMind, announced on 27 October 2026. It generates an explorable world in real time, with music, ambient sound and dialogue made alongside the picture, and you steer it with keyboard controls and text. It is not a video editor and it does not record your software. For product videos, it matters as a preview of where generated video is heading.

Genie 4 builds a world you move through. A product walkthrough has to show the product itself.

What Genie 4 is

DeepMind's announcement post, written by Raia Hadsell, Diego Rivas and Hang Qi, calls Genie 4 a natively multimodal world model. A world model keeps a simulated scene going as you act in it. You move with standard keyboard controls, and you can type changes such as the weather, a new camera position, or an added person or object. The post says Gemini models adapt those edits to the scene.

The post says Gemini Omni anchors the look and behaviour of the world, and other Gemini models handle the reasoning that keeps a scene coherent. It also describes more realistic aerodynamics, collisions and character movement.

Native audio

DeepMind describes Genie 4 as its first real-time world model to generate audio natively, including ambient sound and dialogue that responds to what the user does. It lists real-time audio accuracy among the areas still under research.

Who can use it now

Genie 4 is a research preview for trusted testers. DeepMind says it is coming soon to Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie, and to early access partners in the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. A waitlist for Project Genie is open. The post gives no release date and no price. Everything Genie 4 generates, video and audio, carries Google's SynthID watermark.

How long a session lasts

Some coverage has repeated a figure of about two minutes of consistent environment and compared it with Genie 3. DeepMind's post gives no such number. It says only that Genie 4 can keep environments coherent over short sessions, and that details and object permanence can drift in longer ones. XenoSpectrum, writing about the announcement, warns that the minutes figure means different things for Genie 3 and Genie 4, so the two cannot be read as an improvement.

What it cannot do yet

DeepMind calls Genie 4 an early, experimental model. Its post lists complex physical interactions, real-time audio accuracy, legible text, spatial accuracy and long-term consistency as open research areas. XenoSpectrum adds that multi-agent interactions remain hard and that reproducing real places accurately is limited.

What it means for product videos

The use cases DeepMind names are previsualization and draft mode for filmmakers, historical scenes from archival photos, game and interactive prototypes, training environments for robots and agents, and enterprise scenario generation. Software walkthroughs are not on the list, and that fits what the model is.

  • It is a simulation you explore, so it produces new scenes. It does not log in to your product or run the build you just released.
  • Legible text is an open problem, and a walkthrough depends on text: the menu path, the error message, the version number.
  • A generated scene can drift over time, which is the opposite of what a buyer needs from proof that a feature works.

Where it could help a B2B team is around the product: an atmospheric opening, a concept for a hardware environment, or a storyboard to agree on before filming. If you use something like that, label it as generated, as you would any other generated clip.

Where any2.video fits

any2.video makes verified product walkthroughs. An operator runs a real task on the real product, checks the result against evidence the product produced, and keeps the failed attempts in the record. Delivery takes about two days. Pricing from our pricing page is $6 to $15 per finished minute depending on the mode, and the first sample, one product and one task, is free.

The two can sit in one video. AI video generators for product marketing covers the same limit for other generators, and what a verified walkthrough proves lists the questions to ask any vendor, us included.

Questions about Genie 4

What is Genie 4?

A real-time world model from Google DeepMind, announced on 27 October 2026. It generates an interactive world you control with keyboard and text, with sound generated alongside the visuals.

Is Genie 4 a video generator?

No. A video generator outputs a clip. Genie 4 keeps a world running that you move through. Recording a session would give you a video, but the model's purpose is simulation, and DeepMind does not present it as a video editor.

Can I use Genie 4 today?

Only if you are a trusted tester. DeepMind says access is coming soon to Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie and to early access partners in the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. There is a Project Genie waitlist, and no date or price has been given.

Does Genie 4 have native audio?

Yes. DeepMind calls it its first real-time world model to generate audio natively, covering ambient sound, music and dialogue. It also lists real-time audio accuracy as ongoing research.

Can Genie 4 make a demo video of my software?

Not in any way DeepMind describes. It generates new worlds and does not run your product, so any interface it showed would be invented. For a demo a buyer will trust, record the real product.
