Navattic vs Storylane: Pros, Cons and Prices Compared (October 2026)

Navattic and Storylane both turn your product into a click-through demo, but they start from different places. Navattic is HTML first, with HTML demos on every plan, from its free one. Storylane starts from screenshots and video at $40 a month and adds HTML demos from its $500 Growth plan. At the HTML level the two cost the same: $500 a month for five seats. Prices checked 30 October 2026.

Navattic and Storylane both record your product once and turn it into a click-through demo that buyers explore alone. The difference that matters is the starting point. Navattic captures your web app as HTML on every plan, including its free one. Storylane records screenshots and video on its cheaper plans and adds editable HTML demos from Growth, at $500 a month. Once you compare like with like, HTML demos for five seats, the two cost the same.

How we compared them

We read each vendor's pricing page on 30 October 2026 and its documentation on 29 September 2026. We did not build the same demo in both tools, so this page compares what the vendors publish, not how fast each one is to use. The criteria, in the order a team usually decides:

  • Capture method: HTML copy of the page, or screenshots and video, and on which plan.
  • Price for the same job: what it costs to get HTML demos for a small team.
  • Seats and what a seat costs when you add one.
  • Features teams ask about: A/B testing, translation, sandbox demos, Salesforce, single sign-on.
  • Keeping demos current after a release.

Navattic vs Storylane: pros and cons

Navattic

  • Pro: HTML demos on every plan, including the free one, so you test the real capture method before paying.
  • Pro: the most complete recapture flow of the interactive demo tools we compared on 29 September. You compare old and new screens with a slider, and every step that uses the screen updates.
  • Pro: captures local development and staging URLs, according to its documentation.
  • Pro: A/B testing, Salesforce and Marketo integrations and an MCP server are on Base.
  • Con: no cheap paid step. The first paid plan is $500 a month for five seats, and the free plan allows one demo.
  • Con: demo translation and sandbox demos need Growth, $1,200 a month billed annually.

Storylane

  • Pro: the cheapest paid start of the two. Starter is $40 a month billed yearly for one seat, with unlimited published demos as screenshot and video.
  • Pro: an HTML demo editor on Growth, with an AI editor and a search and replace across screens, according to its documentation.
  • Pro: Hubs and multi-language demos are on Premium, the same $1,200 a month as Navattic's Growth.
  • Con: HTML demos start at $500 a month, so the low price does not carry over to HTML.
  • Con: seats cost more as you add them: $40 each on Starter and $100 each on Growth.
  • Con: sandbox demos are an Enterprise feature with custom pricing.

Who each one suits

  • Choose Navattic if your product is a web app, you ship often, and keeping many HTML demos accurate after releases is the main job.
  • Choose Storylane if you want to start for $40 with screenshot or video demos, or if you want sales features such as Hubs and Salesforce around the demo.
  • Choose neither as a first step if you have not decided whether buyers will use a clickable demo at all. Both have a free plan with one demo; build the same demo in each before you pay.

Which is cheaper, Navattic or Storylane?

Storylane is cheaper to start: $40 a month billed yearly for screenshot and video demos, against $500 a month for Navattic's first paid plan. For editable HTML demos for five seats the price is the same, $500 a month billed annually. Navattic's free plan already includes one HTML demo.

Do Navattic and Storylane capture desktop or terminal apps?

Both offer a desktop app, but it records native apps as screenshots or video, not as HTML. Neither shows a command line finishing a task. For backup, infrastructure and developer tools, where the important part happens in a terminal, a demo shows the path and not the result.

Our recommendation

Build one demo of your most-asked workflow in both free plans this week. If buyers need the demo to stay accurate through monthly releases, Navattic's recapture flow is the stronger fit, and the price gap disappears at HTML level. If you only need a quick screenshot demo for a landing page, Storylane Starter at $40 is the lower-risk start. We did not run either in production for this comparison, so judge the editor on your own product before you commit to an annual plan.

Where a walkthrough fits

A clickable demo lets a buyer look around. It does not show the task finishing on the real product, with the version and the failed attempt kept in. That is what a verified walkthrough is, like the Proxmox VE 9.2 install. For the wider field, see interactive demo software compared and Navattic alternatives.
